Trip Advisor, World's Largest Travel Site, has partnered with OysterConnect.com to launch a nationwide Hotels & Restaurant Re-Branding Initiative. OysterConnect.com will, therefore, be running this project on behalf of TripAdvisor, whose branded sites make up the largest travel community in the world, reaching 315 million unique monthly visitors, and more than 200 million reviews and opinions covering more than 4.4 million accommodations, restaurants and attractions.

Project Steps

  • Project Schedule/ Timeline: This is a Weekend Challenge Project which required students to conduct Field Activities during weekends or holidays (when they do not have any classes). However, 1 -2 days before the Fieldwork, students will be expected to have completed their Training and some basic Online Research on the list of hotels/ restaurants they are allocated for the co-branding activity (Total time required for the same will be approx. 2 hours)
  • During the Weekdays, whenever you have time:
    1. Read and understand all project related documents - Training Guidelines, Training Videos, FAQs.
    2. Go through the List of Hotels / Restaurants provided to you by the Project Manager and Conduct the Online Research of the hotels/restaurants allocated.
  • During the Weekends, do the Fieldwork as follows and Complete the Stickering in min. 5 Hotels/ Restaurants from your allocated list:
    1. Meet the Owners/ Managers of the Hotels/ Restaurants in your list and tell them about the TripAdvisor Co-branding Initiative, its benefits, and what it involves.
    2. If they are interested, then get their permission for pasting the Stickers in the Hotel/ Restaurant Premises along with a couple more details of the place.
    3. Paste the Stickers on the Front Door or Reception Areas of the Hotel/ Restaurant (as per guidelines given during training)
    4. Take Photos of the pasted Stickers and the Area where they are pasted and Name/ Address Proof of the Hotel/ Restaurant (as per guidelines given during training)
    5. Upload all the Photos & Other Details via a Mobile App called POIMapper to submit the data to the Project Manager and the TripAdvisor Team (The login details and usage instructions for the above App will be provided by the Project Manager as a part of your training)
  • NOTE:
    In some cases, the Hotels/ Restaurants that you visit may be closed/ not interested. In such cases, you will be required to cover other Hotels/ Restaurants from the given list.
    Also, after you have submitted the data, the TripAdvisor Team may reject some of it in case the stickering has not been done properly, or the photos are not clear or the Name/ Address Proof Photo is missing. Keeping these things in mind, you should try to sticker at least 5 more Hotels/ Restaurants over & above the target taken by you, so that even if some are Rejected by the TripAdvisor Team, your target will be completed as per the "Approved" Hotels/ Restaurants.

Expected Project Output

1. Complete the Secondary Research on all the Hotels/ Restaurants allocated to you.
2. Complete the Co-Branding of min. 10 Hotels/ Restaurants from the areas/ list allocated to you.

  • Once students are selected, the Project Manager will send an Email Invite to all these students to join their project group on "Basecamp3" - A Project Management App & Website. All further interactions between students & the Project Manager will take place via this Basecamp Group. Therefore, please be on the lookout for the Email Invitation and follow the steps mentioned in the email to register and start interacting on the Basecamp.

  • The TripAdvisor Stickers that will be provided to you by the Project Manager is for your use during the project period only. Any leftover stickers remaining with you after completion of the project targets or in case you are dropping out from the project, need to be returned to the Project manager within 1 week of your exit from the project/ internship.

Type of Interaction

Virtual with Field Work, with flexible work hours. Student will be expected to spend 20-25 hours/week. Student will be required to do field work in the specified location. All interaction will happen over email/Group Chat/phone. No need to visit the office.
