About the company

FreeCharge is an e-commerce website headquartered in Gurgaon. It provides online facility to recharge any prepaid mobile phone, postpaid mobile, DTH & Data Cards in India. On 27 July 2017, Axis Bank acquired FreeCharge for $60 million.

Project Objective: This Campus Ambassador Program is a holistic program for College Students, launched by Freecharge in order to promote the adoption and usage of its wallet among college students and merchants operating in and around such College & Hostel Campuses. This will encompass a variety of Marketing & Branding activities including Market Research, User Acquisition & Onboarding, Social Media Marketing, and Driving Transactions, hence providing the Campus Ambassadors with a holistic experience in the field of Marketing & Branding.

Project Steps

  • Only those Campus Ambassadors will be selected whose college student strength is more than 1000 students. Selected Students will be designated as Freecharge Campus Ambassadors for their respective colleges(having a strength of around 1000 students) and will be required to conduct a variety of Marketing & Branding Activities during the project duration. These tasks will be assigned to the Campus Ambassadors by the Project Manager on a daily/ weekly basis along with specific durations and deadlines.
  • The specific tasks that a Campus Ambassador will be required to do are as follows:
    1. Market Research: Identify Merchants within a 1 km of your College/ Hostel Campus and get information as to which digital wallet are they currently using. Tell them about Freecharge, its offers and ask them if they are interested. The names of the leads will be uploaded onto a Google form provided by the project manager.
    2. Merchant On-Boarding: Post the market research students will immediately onboard merchants onto the Freecharge App. The CA will then post stickers/ QR code collateral in the merchant shops provided by the project manager and take pictures of the same for validation.
    3. Social Media Promotion to Drive Transactions from Students in the Campus: The CA will have to make personalized promotional messages and posts on whatsapp/ facebook/ instagram targeting the college students. In such promotions, the onboarded merchants would be featured in the post along with exclusive offers for payment through Freecharge in order to attract transactions from the students.
    4. Offline Promotion: Posters will be put up across campus featuring onboarded merchants along with Freecharge logo. These posters will be displayed in places where students hang out the most i.e. canteen, seminar halls, notice boards, etc.
  • You can also get the help of your friends and batchmates for this project and make a team since you will be the Campus Ambassador of this project representing your college for freecharge. Discount coupons and Goodies will be provided to the campus ambassadors free of cost.

Expected Project Output

Each Campus Ambassador will be expected to complete the following along with proof of work submitted in the form of screenshots on the google form:

-> Market Research with merchants across the campus
-> Onboarding 10 Merchants operating around your College/ Hostel campus
-> Min. 30 transactions via Freecharge from students, classmates, hostlers, etc
-> Social Media Promotion via Whatsappp/ Facebook/ Instagram
-> Offline promotions within the campus via Posters
